JEMISON PARK
With the completed mixed-use redevelopment of three contiguous historic buildings in Birmingham’s Central Business District, a long-empty block suddenly filled with commercial tenants and their clientele and residents with their children, dogs, bikes and skateboards. The renovated buildings form an L-shaped footprint, whose void was a paved corner lot. The architects/developers conceived a green oasis to replace the asphalt, serving as a gathering space for the new tenants, a respite, and a bridge to further community.
