Giattina Aycock Architecture Studio Medical Projects
CHILDREN’S HEALTH SYSTEM
As the exclusive architect of Alabama’s Children’s Health System for over 25 years, Giattina Aycock Architecture Studio has designed, master planned, renovated and expanded over 1.5 million square feet of complex medical projects on an urban campus.
Despite ever-changing challenges of technology, medical advancements, new procedures and equipment, GA Studio consistently produces patient-focused, award-winning spaces intent on meeting demands of care providers, administrators and staff. We recognize that architecture can foster healing by surrounding patients, families and staff with spaces which are comforting, functional, safe and inspired.
GA Studio’s work is apparent in every component of the Children’s Health System campus, including stand-alone research laboratories, convention center and family counseling center, as well as numerous additions and renovations to create or improve spaces for offices, clinics, children’s daycare, an interior chapel, a cafeteria and kitchen, central plant, central sterilization, pharmacy, imaging, surgery suites, treatment rooms, inpatient rooms, pediatric intensive care units, and a stem cell transplant unit. Currently, GA Studio is assisting Children’s Health System in planning for its next great endeavor: a facility to replace its main hospital.
